Get Your Semi-Truck Ready for CVSA Brake Safety Week with TLG

Now is the time to get your semi-truck prepped and ready to go for the annual Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Brake Safety Week. From August 25 to August 31, enforcement officials across North America will be conducting brake system inspections and removing commercial motor vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations off the roadways until corrected.

Eliminating roadway crashes caused by braking systems on commercial vehicles is the goal of the CVSA Brake Safety Week through data collection, education, and outreach.

For this year’s Brake Safety Week, the focus is on the condition of brake linings and pads. Issues with brake linings and pads can not only affect a motor carrier’s safety rating, but if left unaddressed, can lead to more serious problems for the semi-truck including out-of-service violations, so it’s important that your vehicle is ready for inspection.

Getting Ready for a Road Inspection

Prepping for CVSA Brake Safety Week is easier than you think. The Larson Group is here to help service all your commercial vehicle needs; including our award-winning semi-truck services and extensive semi-truck parts inventory so you can keep your vehicle in tip-top shape year-round and ensure you're ready for a road inspection.

According to the CVSA, brake-related violations make up the largest percentage of all out-of-service vehicle violations cited during roadside inspections. Last year, the CVSA Brake Safety Week also focused on brake linings and pads. Of the 18,875 motor vehicles inspected during that week, 12.6% were removed from the roadways due to brake-related out-of-service violations.

This can include broken brake drums, loose air tanks, corroded holes in a spring brake housing, among others.
